On Behalf of | Mar 8, 2023 | Personal Injury |

Most drivers in Maryland know that there are certain dangers and risks associated with operating a motor vehicle. Yet, it seems like there are still many drivers these days who continue to take driving for granted. It only takes a split second for a deadly car crash to happen.

Details of a recent terrible accident

Recently in Southern Maryland, a terrible multi-vehicle accident left one driver dead and another injured. The crash happened in Calvert County during the afternoon at the intersection of Solomons Island Road and Birdsville Road. Reports said the driver of a dump truck was traveling northbound on Solomons Island Road while, at the same time, a pickup truck was headed east on Birdsville Road approaching Solomons Island Road. According to reports from the Maryland State Police, the driver of the pickup truck attempted to make a left turn onto Solomons Island Road and turned in front of the dump truck.

Reports said the dump truck collided with the pickup truck, which sent the pickup truck spinning into the southbound lane of Solomons Island Road, reportedly striking an SUV. The dump truck crossed over the southbound lane and overturned after going up an embankment. Unfortunately, authorities said the dump truck driver was killed after the vehicle caught fire and became engulfed in flames. The driver of the pickup truck was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital, police said.

Where can victims and families go for help?

It is rarely possible to predict the acts and intentions of other drivers. Those in Maryland who have been injured or suffered the unfortunate loss of a dear loved one in an accident caused by negligence have the right to pursue legal action. By contacting a lawyer and filing a claim, victims and/or families could receive rightful monetary damages.
