The most dangerous hazards often seen on construction sites

Most construction workers in Maryland are likely aware that they work in one of the most hazardous and dangerous occupations in the entire country. On most construction sites, there are unavoidable hazards at nearly every turn. Here are some of the most dangerous construction site hazards and how workers can avoid them.

Tripping hazards

Tripping hazards are literally everywhere on construction sites. Falls resulting from slips or trips are some of the most common causes of injury for construction workers. Risks from these kinds of hazards can be mitigated by keeping work zones free of clutter and properly labeling hazards like slick or wet floors.

Electrical hazards

Since things like power tools and heavy machinery are present on nearly every construction site, it is easy to see why electrocution is always a risk for construction workers. When working outside in the elements, power tools can easily short out and cause electrocution. If power tools and other machinery are not serviced or being inspected regularly, workers could be electrocuted, which can sometimes be fatal.

Heights

Working from heights is commonplace on construction sites. It is also one of the primary causes of serious and fatal injuries for construction workers. Damaged ladders or scaffolding often contribute to these accidents. Construction workers should always wear harnesses and safety equipment when working from heights.

Help for injured workers

The construction industry is vitally important in the United States. Unfortunately, construction workers must deal with hazardous environments daily. Maryland residents who are injured due to no fault of their own may be entitled to compensation, particularly instances of gross negligence by the employer or negligence by third parties not directly affiliated with the employer. By speaking with a personal injury attorney about filing a claim, victims may find that they are entitled to pursue claims for monetary damages to help with medical expenses.
