Pedestrian accident blamed on allegedly impaired driver

On Behalf of | Jun 19, 2022 | Personal Injury |

Most of those who live in and around Maryland cities are pedestrians at some point during the day. When pedestrians are in close proximity to vehicular traffic, accidents are bound to happen. Unfortunately, since pedestrians are completely exposed, they are more likely to suffer fatal injuries when an accident occurs. Sometimes, pedestrian versus vehicle accidents happen due to a driver’s carelessness. Drivers who are at fault can be held financially responsible for deaths or injuries resulting from an accident.

Details of the fatal pedestrian accident

Recently in Pikesville, a man was hit by a vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. The accident happened at night along Interstate 695 near Interstate 70. According to Maryland State Police, the man was driving along the interstate when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle broke down and forced him onto the right shoulder of the highway.

Reportedly, the man exited his vehicle to investigate when he and his vehicle were suddenly struck by a pickup truck. Authorities said the man was severely injured and rushed to a local hospital where, tragically, he later passed away from his injuries. Police said the driver of the pickup truck was suspected of being impaired and was placed under arrest. The accident is currently being investigated by the Maryland State Police.
